Best Dairy Free Mac And Cheese Recipe

A deliciously dairy-free vegan take on a classic, comforting favorite. This plant-based recipe for Creamy Macaroni & Cheese is made with Daiya Cheddar Style Shreds. It’s topped with gluten-free breadcrumbs, vegan parmesan cheese and paprika. It takes just 10 minutes to prep and 15 minutes to cook. This creamy cheese sauce is not only dairy-free, but extremely yummy and a great base recipe. You can do just about anything with it! Add a dash of cumin for that smoky Cheddar taste for mac and cheese. Whisk in dairy-free milk product. Add Daiya Cheddar Style Shreds and cook over low/medium heat for 2-3 minutes, whisking frequently. Stir in the macaroni and mix together. Place macaroni and cheese sauce into an 8x8 casserole dish. Top with bread crumbs and paprika. Bake for 15 minutes uncovered, or until the cheese.

This dairy free mac and cheese does have a lot of steps, but don’t be intimidated!! It’s only because it includes roasting the garlic and making the dairy free cashew parmesan. Not including these two steps, this recipe will only take about 15 minutes to make.

Then, pour in the milk. But DO NOT STIR. Just pour it in and walk away. This will help eliminate the risk of getting the burn warning. You can use regular milk or evaporated milk. I’ve made it with both. If using regular milk, I highly recommend 1% or higher (as in, leave the skim milk for other nefarious purposes). Combine macaroni, almond milk, water, grated onion, sea salt, garlic, onion powder and pepper in a 2-quart glass baking dish (or 8x12' but 9x13' will be too large unless you 1.5x this recipe). Cover tightly with foil (important) and bake for 30 minutes. Fill a large saucepan with water. Bring to a boil. Add macaroni; cook 2 to 3 fewer minutes than manufacturer's directions, until outside of pasta is cooked and inside is underdone.

Now, I can’t take credit for this yummy recipe on my own…my best friend, the Tarabelle (I can’t believe we’ve been friends for over 2 decades! Holy cow that makes me feel old now!) Anyway, the Tarabelle is one of those friends that you don’t see for years and once you get together it’s like a day hasn’t passed!

Anyway, one day the Tarabelle decided she wanted to make mac and cheese for dinner but didn’t realize she had no milk left….oops. So she brilliantly came up with this fantastic substitute– that I’ve started using even when I do have milk. Nba 2k12 soundtrack. When I have the time I always make my Ultimate Crock Pot Mac and Cheese because you can’t get cheesy goodness any better than that– but when I’m wanting to make a quick mac and cheese side this is the route I go every time–it’s the PERFECT last minute side dish!
